Rawan Elhalaby is the Senior Economic Equity Program Manager at The Greenlining Institute where she leads research efforts around bank accountability and financial inclusion. As the daughter of Palestinian working class refugees, Rawan is all too familiar with the obstacles that low-income and immigrant families face in achieving self-sufficiency in the United States. She has spent her career fighting barriers to economic opportunity: at the systems level at Greenlining, and at the individual level with refugees from Iraq and Somalia at the IRC in San Diego. Rawan holds a Master of Public Policy from UC Berkeley and a BA in Political Science from San Diego State University.
