Alexander Guo will be a junior in Fall of 2024. He enjoys writing poetry, and is involved with his school’s creative writing club. Through Coro, he hopes to learn how to gain confidence in his voice and use it to create positive change.

Andre Calvo
Andre Calvo, a senior at The International School of San Francisco in Fall 2024, is a well-rounded student leader with a passion for sailing, motorsports, and the great outdoors. He founded his school’s F1 in Schools team and pioneered the LatinX Heritage Club. Beyond academics, Andre has volunteered with his community’s youth mentorship program and is currently tutoring Haitian students applying for U.S. visas. Through Coro, he aims to enhance his guidance and collaborative skills, enabling him to positively impact his community and loved ones through thoughtful communication and inspiring leadership.
Anoushka Swaminathan (they/them) is a rising sophomore at Carlmont High School. They are very involved with JSA, coding, creative writing, and personal finance, among other extracurriculars. They started their own personal finance summer camp for middle schoolers, created a personal finance literacy app which won the 2023 Congressional App Challenge, and recently completed the Youth in Policy Institute’s fellowship. They have been recognized by the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers and the National Council of Teachers of English, and edit for Purple Ink Press. They hope to gain tools to make an impact on local inequalities.
Ava Gee will be a junior at Lowell High School in Fall 2024. She is involved in Video Lowell, a student run news and entertainment organization, as a videographer. She is also the vice president of the junior prom committee. In addition, Ava is the Projects Director at Dear Asian Youth SF, the San Francisco chapter of a global non-profit organization that strives to empower and uplift Asian youth through community events and local initiatives. In her free time she enjoys baking, watching the sunset, and trying out new food spots. Through Coro, she hopes to enhance her leadership skills.
Elie Zhong will be a junior at CCA in Fall 2024. She really loves reading and writing and anything sweet! She is involved in her school’s creative writing and magazine clubs. She loves going to the library to volunteer and helping other students. Through Coro, she hopes to learn how to better work as a team and meet new friends!
Jackson Parker will be a senior at Abraham Lincoln High school. He enjoys traveling, the beach and music. Through Coro, he hopes to learn how to use being a leader in everyday life.

Kameron Academia
Kameron Academia will be a senior at The International High School of San Francisco in Fall 2024. He enjoys running for his school’s cross-country team, snowboarding, and honing his photography skills in his spare time. He is actively involved in the Asian Student Union affinity group and the Community Service Steering Committee. Additionally, Kameron serves on Congressman Mike Thompson’s Congressional Student Leadership Council and volunteers at the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano. Through Coro, he hopes to enhance his leadership skills, learn strategies to advocate for social and environmental causes, and connect with his Coro partners and peers.
Karina Perez is 14 years old and will be a freshman at San Leandro High School this school year. She enjoys playing with her beloved dogs Luna and Junior, is very passionate about her country of Guatemala and of her parents first language which is a dialect called Mam (pronounced mum). She was involved with her middle school’s student council during eighth grade and would often translate scripts to call parents, invitations, and would help Spanish only speaking kids. Through Coro she hopes to learn key Core values and get better at being a good citizen of society.
Laura Leon will be a Junior in fall of 2024. They enjoy reading, Watching Formula 1, and walking their dogs and are involved in the school debate club. They hope to become more informed and become a leader through Coro.
Malayka Gobena will be a junior at Redwood Christian Schools in Fall 2024. They enjoy spending time with friends, playing tennis and are involved in their school’s Adventure club. Through Coro, they hope to learn how to become a better leader as she will be a part of the school council next year. Malayka also hopes that this program will result in personal growth and lasting relationships for her future.
Mika Omachi will be a junior at Lick-Wilmerding High School in the Fall of 2024. She enjoys reading, making art, and dancing, and is the vice president of her school’s multiracial affinity group. She plays field hockey and softball, and also volunteers at the San Francisco West Portal Library. Through Coro, she hopes to learn how to engage collaboratively with others to achieve a common goal.
Olivia Bussey attends school in the East Bay and will be a sophomore in the fall of 2024. She enjoys acting, playing the ukulele, and photography. Olivia has played the ukulele for three years and has been interested in photography from age seven. Olivia has been acting since she was in second grade. She has been a part of many plays and has even played the lead role in Annie. Her favorite subject in school is mathematics. She also has a deep love of reading that was developed throughout her early childhood. Through Coro, Olivia hopes to improve her leadership and networking skills as well as explore various career paths.
Pakin Papartassee will be a junior at Lowell High School in Fall 2024. He enjoys tennis and cooking and is involved in his school’s tennis team. He also volunteers at San Fran Dhammaram Temple as a teacher’s assistant. Through Coro, he hopes to learn how to become more involved with his community and be more outspoken.
Preet Singh will be a junior at Hercules High school in fall 2024. He enjoys being a leader as he is currently in his school’s ASB. He also volunteers at events that help little kids. Through Coro he hopes to learn how to be a better leader.
Saron Ephrem will be a sophomore at Castro Valley High School in Fall 2024. She enjoys playing soccer, hanging out with her friends and family, cooking/baking and is involved in her school’s She’s The First club. She also volunteers with her club to help package and deliver food for the elderly through the organization CrossStreets. Through Coro, she hopes to improve her communication and leadership skills.
Quintin Thurston will be a senior at Moreau Catholic High School in Fall 2022. They enjoy music and reading and are involved in their school’s Multi-Heritage Club, Honor Band, and Mock Trial Team. Through Coro, they hope to learn how to become a more dynamic and results oriented leader.
