    Ava Jones

    Ava Jones

    Ava Jones is a junior at Mission High School. She is a calm, collected, empathetic, and creative person. Ava likes to travel, and hopes in the future that she can go to Africa and help communities there, as well as go see the northern lights. She loves meeting new people. Ava is an only child adopted by two mothers, and she is also Guatemalan. Some of her hobbies include painting, singing, dancing, and playing the piano.

    Brandon Sturdivant

    Brandon is a junior at Archbishop Riordan High School. He enjoys debating, playing basketball, competition, and one-on-one conversations. He’s involved in the Black Student Union and volunteers for the Urban Peace Movement. Through Coro, he hopes to learn how to be an effective leader.

    Camila is a sophomore at James Logan High School. She enjoys playing water polo, swimming, and reading. She is involved in the Puente program, and in Pre-College Academy. She also volunteers with Union City Family Center. Through Coro, she hopes to learn how to help her community connect with services.

    Emily Jamison Penrose is a sophomore at San Leandro High School. She enjoys cheer, softball, and is involved with her school’s Black Student Union. She also volunteers with elderly people. Through Coro, she hopes to learn how to be more involved in her community and speak up more.

    Graziella Gulli

    Graziella “Grace” Gulli will be a junior this fall at Oakland Technical High School. She enjoys being in her school’s jazz band, and is the Communications Manager of the Oakland East Side All-Star Ensemble. She is also involved in Oakland’s Youth and Government Delegation, where she serves as Vice President. She  works at her local bookstore in her spare time. Through Coro, she hopes to learn how to develop her leadership skills and learn new ways she can give back to her Oakland community.

She is involved in her school’s Junior Optimist Octagon International Club, commonly known as Octagon Club, and the College Bound Club. Through Coro, she hopes to learn how to be more confident in her ability to speak up and help the people around her.

Through Coro, he hopes to learn how to overcome obstacles and make a difference for inner city youth.

    Ruby Chan-Frey is a junior at Oakland Technical High School. She plays ice hockey for her school, and is involved in multiple theatre groups around the Bay Area. She has worked with a variety of social justice and advocacy programs around the Bay, including R.E.A.L. H.A.R.D., Children’s Defense Fund, and Voces Fuertes. Through Coro, she hopes to continue her leadership education by improving her collaboration and management skills.

Sulamith volunteers with cleaning San Jose Parks in her free time. Through Coro, she hopes to learn how to develop leadership skills to reach her goals.
