Sofia Castillo Cieza is an affordable housing development and finance professional with over a decade of experience spanning underwriting, due diligence, asset management, compliance monitoring, and project management. She is currently a Senior Underwriter at Aegon Asset Management, where she collaborates with originators to structure, negotiate, and execute LIHTC investments; leads comprehensive due diligence and closings; and prepares and presents investment committee memoranda to secure approvals for complex transactions.

Previously, Sofia served as Senior Associate Consultant on the Community Investment team at the Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco, conducting financial feasibility reviews, advancing program strategy and design, supporting compliance oversight, and providing technical assistance to nonprofit developers and community lender member institutions across the Bank’s district. Earlier in her career, she held asset management roles at Mission Housing Development Corporation and MidPen Housing, where she supported preservation, recapitalization and reporting efforts, working closely with public and private stakeholders.

She is fluent in Spanish, and outside of work, she enjoys hiking, spending time with her dogs and reading.
