Ann Jasper manages the Walk n’ Roll program for the City of San Jose’s Dept. of Transportation. The team organizes educational events focused on safe walking and biking, and supports events that encourage students to walk or bike to school. Prior to this position, Ann managed Safe Routes to School contracts for a nonprofit bicycle advocacy organization and worked with schools across San Mateo and Santa Clara counties. In her free time, Ann enjoys backpacking, bicycling, and having philosophical discussions with her son.

Anne Stotler is a Principal Behavioral Designer at ideas42. She supports an initiative focused on shifting harmful and false narratives about poverty in partnership with Oakland community-based organizations, and leads the New York City Behavioral Design Team, which partners with NYC government agencies to strengthen city service delivery. Anne previously worked at the U.S. Department of State and social impact nonprofits in Los Angeles County. She received a Master in Public Policy degree from Harvard Kennedy School and a Bachelor’s in history from the University of Virginia. She’s originally from Long Beach, CA and lives in San Francisco.

Courtney Graham ​​is Director of Organizational Excellence at the San Francisco Unified School District. She develops systems to support leaders in education to have meaningful conversations with their employees that encourage growth and continuous learning in their practice. Previously, she served as the Acting Chief of Human Resources, leading the department during the pandemic and through the reopening of San Francisco public schools. Courtney hails from the midwest, a University of Michigan graduate (Go Blue!), but has been happy to call the Bay home for more than a decade. One of her life goals is to see all of the U.S. National Parks; she’s at 15 and counting.

Dante Alnas-Benson is an East Bay native born and raised in Berkeley. Dante has over 10 years of experience working in nonprofits. Previously, Dante operated the Berkeley Farmers Market and supported a youth development program. Currently he conducts outreach across the 9 Bay Area counties on the behalf of Rising Sun. His role is to sign up clients for the Green House Call program, which is a no-cost, in-home retrofit service operated by locally-based youth staff.

Danvy Le is an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science at California State University, East Bay. A child of refugees, Dr. Le was born and raised in Little Saigon, Orange County, CA where she was inspired by the political activity of Vietnamese Americans, particularly her father, a Vietnamese journalist who escaped during the Vietnam War. A first generation college graduate, she earned her doctorate at UC Irvine and centers her work around community, inclusion, and empowerment. Her research examines mobilizing communities of color towards political incorporation. In the community, Danvy has volunteered with organizations including AAPI Women Lead, Initiate Justice, and the Ella Baker Center to uplift communities.

Hannah Hanssens-Reed grew up in Philadelphia and spent the early years of her career teaching in Spain, South America, and Australia before returning to the States for her Master of Education. Over her career, she has expanded access to high-quality education, launched community-based arts programs, and developed initiatives to support the healthy development of children and families. In 2021, she joined Family Connections Centers, supporting communications, development, and community partnerships; she also serves as the Treasurer of the Portola Neighborhood Association. In her free time, she loves long backpacking trips, collecting  houseplants, diving into ceramics and painting projects, and enjoying an SF sunset with a loaf of fresh sourdough.

Jimmy O’Hare’s professional experience centers on sustainability and climate resilience, with a focus on buildings and campus design, municipal climate action planning, and regional energy infrastructure. At PG&E, she manages a $1.5M community engagement strategy to elevate the experience and input of Californians most vulnerable to climate hazards and incorporate community knowledge into long-term energy infrastructure planning. Outside of work, Jimmy served on the City of Berkeley Energy Commission and completed the 2021 Bay Area Fellowship with the Clean Energy Leadership Institute (CELI). She is passionate about her neighborhood pizza joint, biking, and enjoying the Bay Area outdoors.

Joel Valencia grew up in the Belle Haven neighborhood of Menlo Park and holds a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from Princeton University. He is a first-generation Mexican-American with family from the southwestern Mexican states, Michoacán and Guerrero. Joel’s career includes extensive program and fundraising work at nonprofits benefiting low-income communities of color in Menlo Park and East Palo Alto. He is passionate about ensuring that all people are presented with the opportunities, guidance, and resources they need to be successful. He has worked on a range of issues, including foreclosure and homelessness prevention, anti-predatory lending, small business development and financial literacy, youth mentorship, and free tech education. Joel serves as the Director of the Executive Board of New Leaders Council Silicon Valley and the Partnerships Chair of the Internet Society San Francisco Chapter.

Kara Vuicich joined the Metropolitan Transportation Commission as a Principal Planner in February 2020, but has been working as a transportation planner in the Bay Area since 2001. During that time, she has worked as a consultant, and as a planner at the City of Berkeley and the Alameda County Transportation Commission. Throughout her career, her work has focused on public transit, transit-oriented development, transportation demand management, parking management, and bicycle and pedestrian planning. She lives in Albany, CA with her husband and three teenage children.

Kristin Hanaoka has worked in the public sector for 14 years. She began her federal career at the US Census Bureau, working as a project manager of a national hospital survey. After working in various parts of the country she settled in San Francisco, where she currently works for the Department of Veterans Affairs, Office of Accountability and Whistleblower Protection. As a management and program analyst in the Compliance department, she tracks and confirms the VA’s implementation of recommendations from various audits and investigations completed by external stakeholders. Kristin earned her bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Colorado Boulder, and her master’s degree in Sociology from American University. In her free time, she enjoys the outdoors with her pup.

Lakiba Pittman is a college professor, compassion and mindfulness educator, trauma healing facilitator, social justice worker, writer, and creative artist. She is a Senior Instructor for Compassion Cultivation Training workshops designed at Stanford’s Center for Compassion & Altruism, Research & Education, a Faculty Lecturer at Menlo College, a Facilitator for Healing Together, and a Trained Instructor for Mindful Self Compassion, Mind Body Stress Reduction (MBSR) and Mind-Body Medicine.  

Leigh Hanson currently serves as GLIDE’s Interim Chief Development Officer, overseeing the Foundation’s $25 million contributed, contract, and earned revenue strategies. Leigh is also the Senior Director of Institutional Partnerships and Owner’s Representative for GLIDE’s real estate modernization project. Prior to joining GLIDE, Leigh spent several years advising Mayors from across the country on how best to advance key priorities through public-private partnerships, including as Pittsburgh Mayor William Peduto’s Deputy Chief of Staff for Economic Development.

Leigh also worked in the philanthropic sector for almost 10 years, serving in key executive advisory roles at the Heinz Endowments  and at The Pittsburgh Foundation. Leigh earned her bachelor’s in international affairs and economics from Lewis and Clark College,  and a Masters of Public Policy and Management from Carnegie Mellon University with a focus on nonprofit management. She lives in Oakland, CA with her husband, young son, and dog.

Leo Goldberg is Co-Director for Policy and Capacity Building at the California Community Land Trust Network, where he leads policy advocacy and technical assistance activities for community led affordable housing organizations. Leo has held a range of housing research and advocacy positions. Prior to returning to California, Leo was Policy and Research Manager at the Center for NYC Neighborhoods, where he led research and program design efforts focused on speculative real estate practices and the racial wealth gap. In other roles he studied housing in the global south, organized tenants, and advocated for policies that benefit unhoused New Yorkers. He holds a B.A. in History and Urban Studies from Columbia University and a M.A. in City Planning from MIT.

Matt Carona has been at Google for 9 years, where he’s currently a marketing manager for Google’s environmental sustainability team. He was recently involved in a 6-month Google.org Fellowship supporting Goodwill Industries on their marketing and brand strategy. Prior, Matt led Google’s crisis response marketing efforts, demonstrating the ways in which the company supports communities impacted by disasters. He’s involved in collective climate action efforts, volunteering with Climate Changemakers, and took part in a 12-week fellowship program at Terra.do, deep diving into the climate change landscape and the necessary solutions to mitigate the climate crisis. He lives in San Francisco with his wife and two cats. Outside of work, he enjoys writing and performing music, reading, city hikes, interview podcasts, cooking, and a good miniseries.

Natalie McGee is the Vice President, Resident Experience & Engagement for Milestone Retirement Communities, LLC, transitioning from CommonSpirit Health, where she was a part of the leadership team for Mercy McMahon Terrace, a senior living community in the Sacramento area. As a business development executive, Natalie’s call to action has been to build business relationships and loyalty through service. Natalie’s career spans social work, health care fundraising, healthcare, and senior living leadership. Natalie was born on the island of Barbados in the Caribbean and grew up in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Natalie is currently obtaining her Master of Arts degree in Organizational Management. Natalie has many accolades, but her greatest accomplishment is her family. 

Neetu Balram serves as Alameda County Public Health Department’s Public Information Manager. Neetu is responsible for internal, external, executive, crisis, and media communications strategy. She started in January 2019 with Alameda County’s Whole Person Care Pilot. Prior to joining the County, Neetu was the Director of Communications for Californians Dedicated to Education Foundation and worked as an Account Executive, passing local ballot measures at a political consulting firm. Neetu earned a BA in History and Economics from UC San Diego. Born and raised in Hayward, Neetu lives in Oakland with her husband.

Neha Kapur was born and raised in India and has experience working for financial institutions and nonprofit organizations in both India and the US. She completed her BA (H) in Economics from Miranda House (University of Delhi), MBA from International Management Institute (IMI) in New Delhi, certificate program in Financial Planning and Analysis from U.C. Berkeley Extension, and a certificate program in Commercial Solar Lending from University of New Hampshire. Living and working on two continents has helped her appreciate different cultures and socio-economic issues. In her current role, she is Senior Manager, Credit and Portfolio Administration, for RSF Social Finance and has built expertise around deploying capital to mission-oriented businesses in the fields of education and arts, climate and environment, and food and agriculture. She is a volunteer advisor for small businesses through other organizations in the Bay Area. Neha’s hobbies include water painting, dancing, and playing tennis. She lives in San Francisco with her husband and daughter.

Porsche Bunton is a dedicated Civil Service employee with over 10 years of working for the government. She spent 4 years at San Mateo County and now works for the City and County of San Francisco Department of Human Resources as a Diversity Recruitment Manager. Porsche is originally from Orlando, FL, where she was raised by her mother and siblings. She moved to California on a full-ride scholarship to fulfill her college dreams and graduated from San Francisco State University with a degree in Child Development (Youth and Family Services) and a minor in Special Education. Porsche loves traveling and exploring new hiking trails, and enjoys being a plant mom to tons of unique plant babies.

Samantha Hammer is currently a Principal Behavioral Designer with ideas42, where she leads projects focused on applying behavioral science to improve fairness and reduce harm caused by the criminal legal system. Prior, Samantha specialized in using qualitative research and human-centered design to inform policy, program, and service design for governments and mission-driven organizations around the world. She has worked across the domains of criminal legal system reform, civic participation, displacement and migration, and public health. Samantha lives in Oakland and enjoys spending time outside all around the Bay Area and practicing hand-balancing and tumbling in her free time.

Scott Hugo is a Housing Justice attorney with the Oakland City Attorney’s Office, where he employs litigation and policy to fight for tenants’ right to safe, dignified, and healthy housing. He is also an Assistant Professor of Practice with the Lokey School of Business and Public Policy at Mills College, where he teaches graduate public policy ethics and housing policy. Scott graduated from UCLA with a BA in Political Science and History, and earned an MPhil in International Relations at Oxford University on a Rhodes Scholarship. He completed the joint Juris Doctor/Master of Public Policy program at Harvard Law School and the Kennedy School of Government.

Scott Owades has spent the last decade working in transportation technology, using data to improve the rider experience in the public and private sectors. Currently, Scott works on Caltrans’s Integrated Travel Project (Cal-ITP), supporting transit providers across the state to provide trip planning tools for their riders. An Oakland resident, Scott focuses on strengthening his neighborhood and community: building street furniture, hosting block parties, and organizing neighbors in support of housing, transit, and bike and pedestrian improvements.

Susan Hoganes has worked with children since 1996, when she worked in youth development at Boys & Girls Clubs. In 2002, she started her career in Early Childhood Education. She’s taught in infant/toddler and preschool classrooms, served in administrator roles, gained experience in play pair therapy, and is currently the Executive Director of Children’s Center of the Stanford Community. Since 2018 she has helmed her organization through a move, expansion, and the pandemic.   

A native San Franciscan, Susan is also a newlywed, daughter, sister and aunt. She has family roots in the Philippines and in her free time loves traveling and cycling with her husband.

Thao Nguyen is a transportation planner who is passionate about data-driven analysis and community engagement to improve street safety. She is currently a data manager of San Jose’s Vision Zero team. Before joining the San Jose Department of Transportation, Thao worked at planning and transportation consulting firms. Thao holds a Bachelor’s degree from UC Berkeley and completed her Master’s degree in City Planning at University of Pennsylvania.

Trevor Chandler is an accomplished political, public affairs, and government relations professional who has spearheaded groundbreaking strategies on issues ranging from marriage equality to the Middle East to tech. Trevor currently serves as the Director of Government Affairs and Public Policy for Citizen, the personal safety app. As a leader in the LGBTQ civil rights movement, Trevor worked as a key strategist for 7 marriage equality campaigns and multiple nondiscrimination campaigns, building historic bipartisan coalitions, targeted lobbying efforts, and legislator and voter persuasion campaigns. He was recently appointed by Governor Gavin Newsom to the State Board of Pharmacy. He’s also been appointed by Mayor London Breed to San Francisco’s Eastern Neighborhood Community Advisory Committee. In 2015 he was recognized by the Global Diversity List Presented by The Economist as one of the Top 50 Global Diversity Leaders in Public Life.
