Michal “MJ” Jones joins us this summer as a Co-Trainer for our Exploring Leadership Program. MJ is a youth educator, scholar, writer, and activist based in Oakland, CA. Before supporting Coro’s Exploring Leadership Youth Program, MJ worked designing and implementing programming for low-income, LGBTQ youth of color in their role at Youth Uprising in East Oakland. As a writer their work has been featured at Alternet, Everyday Feminism, and Black Youth Project, and they are a recent alumni of the Voices of Our Nation (VONA) workshop for writers of color. MJ strives to work toward a more equitable and just society for themselves and their 8-month old son, Glory.
