The Fellows just finished connecting with 20+ interview guests from across the Bay Area and Sacramento on the topic of organized labor, including labor leaders, business representatives, an elected official, and public pension experts. Wrapping up their exploration of labor were placements with the following organizations:
American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) Council 57, California School Employees Association (CSEA), Contra Costa AFL-CIO Labor Council, Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 521, Service Employees International Union 1021, South Bay AFL-CIO Labor Council.
Special thanks to Coro board members Jim Araby (UFCW), Linda Gregory(AFSCME), Chris Patterson (CA Professional Firefighters), and Alberto Torrico, attorney, lobbyist, and former Assemblyman.
To further Coro’s value of working across differences, the Fellows hosted three Civil Discourse Dinners on December 2, 2017. Each Fellow invited someone who held different perspectives or life experience than themselves to engage in meal preparation and a conversation about values. The eight-person dinners aimed to further guests’ understanding of and empathy for people with views and values different from their own. To be part of an upcoming dinner or to host a Civil Discourse Dinner, please contact Mat Larson.
